Now I wear the ragg wool socks over a pair of light- to mid-weight hiking socks and I couldn't be happier. Temperatures are often in the single digits (if that warm), and the wind chill is often below zero, but my feet are cozy. Also, I like the texture of these socks--they're not coarse such that I can feel the weave (which I've disliked with some socks I've tried in the past).

But they are not very comfortable on the bottom of the foot when walking. Would probably work better with a thin sock underneath and this sock as a second pair.
